Fuel polishing is critical to prevent failure of generator systems. Poorly maintained fuel can lead to expensive damaged to the generators fuel system including fuel injectors and fuel pumps. In a worse case scenario this damage or plugging of fuel filters can cause a complete failure of the generator when its needed most during a power outage.
Many large facilities rely on large diesel fuel powered pumps to move water through out the facility for their fire suppression systems. Just like Emergency generators, maintaining diesel fuel stored for fire fighting systems is a critical step to insure your system will operate when its needed the most during an emergency situation.
Our Marine service, offers diesel fuel polishing for power boats and sailboats and commercial vessels. Boats are very acceptable to diesel fuel contamination and the growth of diesel bugs. This is because of the high moisture environment they operate in. Contaminated fuel can be stirred up in heavy seas leaving the vessel stranded.
Diesel fuel tanks used to store diesel fuel for trucking, farms and commercial construction equipment will eventually accumulate contamination from condensation, tank corrision and airborne dust particles. This contamination causes damage over time to fuel pumps and fuel injectors along with plugging fuel filters.
The first step in fuel polishing and tank cleaning is the addition of a diesel fuel treatment. We use a product called “Perfect Fuel Preservation” Its acts as a fuel treatment and stabilizer. It also assists in cleaning the tank walls.
The free water separator and purifier utilizes centrifugal force to split water, sludge and particles of dirt from the fuel and separates them so the waste can be isolated.
Fuel after passing through the water removal stage, then passes through an incredibly strong magnetic field. This step removes any metal particle and also helps to break down single-celled organisms (Bacteria).
This is last step before the fuel returns to the tank. Fuel is passed through descending micron size fuel filters. Typically fuel is filtered down to 2 or 3 microns. Also in this step any emulsified water will be removed.
The Final step in fuel polishing is to draw a sample from the tank to insure it passes the Clear and Bright visual test. If request a sample can be sent away and analyzed by a third party. (particle size and moisture content).
